Kaduna Polytechnic has restructured its Higher National Diploma (HND) Mass Communication curriculum into specialized departments:1. JOURNALISM AND MEDIA STUDIES: This department focuses on training students in news reporting, writing, and media ethics.2. STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES: This area emphasizes public relations, advertising, and corporate communications.This initiative aims to provide students with specialized skills tailored to specific sectors of the communication industry, enhancing their employability and expertise. The unbundling process aligns with NBTE’s broader strategy to update curricula in response to evolving industry demands.This development, which takes effect immediately, is aimed at providing students with specialized knowledge and skills in their chosen areas of interest. The unbundling of Mass Communication is expected to produce highly skilled and competent communication professionals who can compete favorably in the industry.According to a statement released by the polytechnic’s management, the decision to unbundle Mass Communication was taken after a thorough review of the program’s curriculum and industry needs. The statement reads in part:”The unbundling of Mass Communication into Strategic Communication and Broadcast and Media Production is a strategic move to position Kaduna Polytechnic as a leader in communication education. We are confident that this development will enhance the employability of our graduates and equip them with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the industry.”
